"Your file is important to us"

We were recently informed about who are placement officer will be, so I sent her an email a week ago or two just to introduce ourselves. She replied shortly before the new year and she seemed really enthusiastic about working with us.

However, she mentioned that they are "still working to find a match" for us where we can maximise our skills and our experiences can be maximised. That sounds good, but didn't they already do that? Wasn't that what the nomination process was about, which took nearly a month to complete at the placement office?

Hmmm. Trying. To. Remain. Calm.

Yeah that is weird. I thought that's what the nomination was for too. In fact, I don't get the difference between the two. Anyway, in a few months I'll be going through the same thing. Good luck.

Nomination is just a rough estimate- I don't remember even having a region during nomination, just an idea of what they thought I could do at the time job wise.

Hmmm. still confused. from what I understood about the nomination process for couples was that they sent our files to the placement office and that THEM match it.

Someone's not going to be happy if they "gave away" our program spots!

The whole system of nomination is kind of strange. I was originally nominated for non Spanish speaking South America/non formal education because I was told by my recruiter that I wasn't qualified for youth development.

I was invited to Dominican Republic for youth development and then they changed it again to Honduras youth development.

Don't worry. I was worried that I wouldn't get Latin America because I wasn't "qualified" but here I am. Hopefully they won't screw it up for you.

Good luck!

Hmm. Confused... But what do I know...

Maybe it's not about the country but the partner?

Maybe it's about the project?

Maybe it's about the region?

Maybe they forgot their coffee that day?

Only the god of patience knows.

What I do know, is that if you are able to survive North American Bureaucracy, you'll be ok abroad.

Hang in there!

I don't know what I'm talking about most of the time, it's been awhile since I applied (everything was still paperin the old days, 1999)

It will work out. Just be patient and it will all work out.
