Back from Thailand, Back on the Radar

Our travels throughout Southeastern Asia are behind us and the "rest of our lives" are ahead of us. We're back in Australia and eager to move on to the next step in this Peace Corps adventure!

Our placement officer emailed us finally and she wants to speak with us over the phone about our departure date and lots of other things I suppose. So, on Monday night I'll hardly be able to sleep knowing that in the morning she could tell us that our invitation will be on the way in a few days time--meaning we could have the much awaited package in 1-2 weeks after it's put in the post.

We were actually waiting for our invitation to decided what date we'd fly back to the states, but since she asked what the earliest day was that we'd be ready to leave, we decided that June 5th would be the date. The semester ends at the end of May, so that would give us about 5 days to do what we couldn't do here, which means visiting the in-laws and visiting my family in Miami--and stocking up on Goya spices.

I really do hope something good comes out of this phone call!

(I still haven't received that letter from the Medical Screening office requesting more information, which apparently was sent on the 14th of February.)

That IS good news, however I also though about the idea of not wanting to spend what little money I do recieve in my stipend on spices.

I'm leaving a package of emergency/absolutely necesarry cooking essetials with either my parents or my inlaws send it to me or I'll send it to my address once I get it. I don't know how the whole sending stuff to yourself thing works yet--I'll have to ask around.
